After nearly 350,000 miles, I blew the original head gasket. Decided this is as good a time as any for a complete teardown/rebuild. Gonna have the rest of the drivetrain out shortly, then I'll pull the interior (not my first time :D) and send the body off to be cleaned up.

I have a huge shopping list that totals more than the car will ever be worth, but I don't care. Gonna get another 350k+ of awesome motoring out of 'her. Gonna shoot for a mild power bump, around 260-270 to the wheels :)

I should say I blew the gasket by accidentally shoving 26 PSI boost down her throat. I'm glad it's just the gasket and a piston ring or two. B202 internals are made of cantfuckitupium

Yup, I plan on being added to that list someday :)

The overboost was accidental. I disabled the controller solenoid to diagnose a base boost problem. I didn't realize what my foot was doing until I was accelerating WILDLY and the boost gauge's needle was bouncing off the peg

For those few seconds, it was the most fun I've ever had :) Paying for it now though. After the rebuild I hope to have somewhere around 260-270 hp; just below the transmission grenade threshold.

Yeah sometimes the most fun things end the most horribly. Did the transmission have any issues after that? That sounds like a nice bump over what is already a fun little car. Hope you don't have anymore huge overboosts! Give us a couple of writeups every once in a while to let us know how you're doing with the car! I love reading about all the cool stuff some of the guys on OPPO do.

Transmission held up fine, and I drove it for a good three-four weeks before the damage became apparent and she stalled on me (in the middle of an intersection). I haven't come up with a name for the project, but I have posted a few articles about my progress so far and will continue to do so. Like Project Thanks Obama, it'll be a regular feature 'round these parts soon!
